A pop-up restaurant in Soho, London

Shortlisted for the AJ Small Projects Award 2010

"This fit-out of a pop-up restaurant in Soho is a series of plywood booths placed in a white washed ‘as found’ shop.

Glowing red interiors with arched entrances, illuminated arrows and signage are intended to acknowledge Soho’s heritage as a red-light district. Diners sit within booths that are entered through individual doorways. Highlights from the menu are laser-cut from plywood in typefaces reflecting the character of the different dishes, and displayed like items for sale on shelves.

The builders merchants materials and rough quality of the existing shop interior are intended to express the temporary nature of the restaurant, also seen in the design of the chairs, which are held together by cable ties.”
